TPSS Cell Phone Policy
To help keep our campus focused and support a safe, productive learning environment, cell phones must be turned off and stored in backpacks at all times while on campus and on the school bus.
Consequences for violations:
- 1st Offense: The phone is confiscated, documented, and secured in the front office. It is returned to the student at the end of the school day.
- 2nd Offense: The phone is confiscated for 3 days. A mandatory parent conference is required before the phone is returned to the parent.
- 3rd Offense: The phone is confiscated for a minimum of 7 days, up to a maximum of 14 days. A mandatory parent conference is required before the phone is returned to the parent.
- Subsequent Offenses: The same 7–14 day confiscation and mandatory parent conference requirements apply.
Important: If a student refuses to surrender their cell phone, they will be referred to administration. The violation will result in an automatic OSS (Out-of-School Suspension) unless other factors warrant a different consequence.

Tangipahoa Parish School System has implemented enhanced safety procedures at athletic events, including security-wand screenings and a clear-bag policy. Fans should arrive early and bring only permitted clear bags or small clutches; backpacks, large purses, tote bags, and non-clear bags are not allowed. Diaper bags and medically necessary items are permitted after inspection.

In a historic step forward, the plaintiffs in the 60-year federal desegregation case involving the Tangipahoa Parish School System have signed a consent agreement with the district in the areas of Faculty and Staff Assignment, Teacher Assignment, and Student Assignment. Following this agreement, attorneys for the school system have filed motions with U.S. District Judge Ivan Lemelle seeking final unitary status in all three of these key areas.
