I am elated to serve as the assistant principal of Independence High Magnet School. I have been an educator in the Tangipahoa Parish School System for fourteen years. I taught 8th grade science at Hammond Junior High Magnet School. I taught 4th grade and Special Education at Hammond Westside Montessori School. I also taught a SPED combo class and 3rd grade ELA for 7 years at Lucille Nesom Memorial School. Before coming to Independence High Magnet School, I served as a curriculum facilitator at Independence Magnet School and O.W. Dillon Elementary School for two years. I am a mother of four beautiful children  (Qimone, Maqai, Bailey, and Jaci). I am a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and received my M.A. in Educational Leadership from Southern University A&M. I am originally from Houston, but was raised right here in Hammond, La. I believe that all children deserve the right to a fair education with the necessary structure and supports put in place. Children are lifelong learners, and it is our job as educators to prepare them for that journey.  I am a product of the Tangipahoa School System, and I am an example that anything is possible. It is my honor and privilege to serve the Independence community here at Independence High Magnet School.
